Genetic legislation may be clearly expressed in public health statutes. It may also be embedded in other regulations, administrative rules, or other less obvious statutes, e.g. labor law. Identifying and interpreting state genetics legislation is not necessarily straightforward. One example of genetic-related legislation in New York is:
Civil Rights (CVR), Article 7 Miscellaneous Rights and Immunities, 79-L Confidentiality of records of genetic tests
Resources for genetic legislation include:
- State genetic contacts
- New York State Assembly Online
National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Genetics Laws and Legislative Activity.
