Genetic legislation may be clearly expressed in public health statutes. It may also be embedded in other regulations, administrative rules, or other less obvious statutes, e.g. labor law. Identifying and interpreting state genetics legislation is not necessarily straightforward. One example of genetic-related legislation in Louisiana is:
Revised Statutes. Chapter 23. Part VII. Genetic Information and Privacy. Section 368.
Resources for genetic legislation include:
- State genetic contacts
- Louisiana State Legislature Online
National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Genetics Laws and Legislative Activity.
