Genetic legislation may be clearly expressed in public health statutes. It may also be embedded in other regulations, administrative rules, or other less obvious statutes, e.g. labor law. Identifying and interpreting state genetics legislation is not necessarily straightforward. One example of genetic-related legislation in North Dakota is:
Title 26.1 Insurance. Chapter 26.1-36.3 Small Employer Employee Health Insurance. 36.3-01 Definitions
Pertaining to genetics and health insurance anti-discrimination law
Resources for genetic legislation include:
- State genetic contacts
- North Dakota Legislature Online
National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Genetics Laws and Legislative Activity.
